Understanding the challenge
Most crypto platforms in Nigeria rely heavily on peer-to-peer trading, which can be slow, risky, and confusing for new users.
We wanted to design a system that allowed people to:
Buy and sell BTC, ETH, and other coins easily.
Buy and sell gift cards directly within the app.
Save, send, and manage crypto or fiat in one safe place.
Our goal: create a secure, all-in-one digital finance app that feels simple and trustworthy even for first-time users.
Design solution
Adele Pay combines crypto exchange, savings, and payments into one smooth experience.
Crypto & Gift Cards: Users can buy/sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and gift cards directly without the usual P2P stress.
Savings Plans: Flexible saving options short-term, long-term, or target-based in Naira, USD, BTC, or ETH.
Bills & Airtime: Users can pay electricity, internet, and mobile bills seamlessly in-app.
Admin Dashboard: The microfinance partner manages live exchange rates and transactions securely from their end.
My Approach
Research First: I carried out interviews with both crypto traders and first-time buyers to understand their biggest pain points mainly trust, volatility, and confusing user flows.
Focus on Clarity: The design had to make crypto feel familiar, not intimidating. I used clean visuals, straightforward labels, and simple flow logic.
Seamless Flow: Users could move from buying crypto → saving → paying bills without switching apps or wallets.
Consistency Across Platforms: Designed mobile, web, and admin dashboards with a consistent system of colors, spacing, and icons.
Key flow
Buy & Sell Crypto – Select BTC/ETH, choose amount, confirm purchase.
Savings – Create custom savings plans (target, short-term, long-term).
Gift Cards – Buy or redeem gift cards using crypto or wallet balance.
Bills & Airtime – Pay utilities and mobile airtime directly from wallet
The Outcome
End-to-end design completed in 2 months with full UX documentation.
The final system connected crypto, fiat, and savings into one flow removing the P2P barrier.
Impact: New users found crypto trading easier, and existing users trusted the in-app Microfinance exchange more than traditional platforms.
Reflection
Adele Pay showed me how much design can simplify something as complex as cryptocurrency. My biggest focus was trust and transparency making every process feel as natural as topping up airtime or sending money.
As lead designer, I balanced crypto compliance with user experience, ensuring that people could buy, save, and manage their digital money without anxiety or confusion.
